[COVER REVEAL] The Game Plan (Game On #3) by Kristen Callihan

my next reading... look at that arms... ;-)

The Game Plan (Game On #3) by Kristen Callihan

You can Pre-Order here:

SUMMARY
A beard-related dare and one hot-as-hell kiss changes everything.

NFL center Ethan Dexter’s focus has always been on playing football and little else. Except when it comes to one particular woman. The lovely Fiona Mackenzie might not care about his fame, but she’s also never looked at him as anything more than one of her brother-in-law’s best friend. That ends now.

Fi doesn’t know what to make of Dex. The bearded, tattooed, mountain of man-muscle looks more like a biker than a football player. Rumor has it he’s a virgin, but she finds that hard to believe. Because from the moment he decides to turn his quiet intensity on her she’s left weak at the knees and aching to see his famous control fully unleashed.

Dex is looking for a forever girl, but they live vastly different lives in separate cities. Fi ought to guard her heart and walk away. But Dex has upped his game and is using all his considerable charm to convince Fi he's her forever man.

Game On

Interested yet? Well... I do and I can't wait to read the book... though I want to read the first book first (hahah! redundant... ), since I got it for only $.99 on Kindle... yay! It's "The Hook Up" by the way if you want to look for it...

And for now... let's take a peep on the excerpt... ;-)

I grin up at him. “You know, before this, I’d have taken you for a hard rock, or maybe even a bluegrass fan.”
“It’s the beard, isn’t it,” he asks.
“And the man-bun.”
He laughs, a short rumble of sound. “Want me to let it down?”
Yes. Maybe.
“Not necessary. Man-buns are hot. I blame Jason Momoa. There was only so much watching him bang Khaleesi the female population could take before they wanted their own Khal Drogo.”
Shit. I really don’t know what the hell I’m doing. Because it sounds a lot like flirting to me. Instinct tells me flirting with Ethan Dexter isn’t something to do lightly. And there’s the fact that I don’t go for athletes. At all. I don’t care how fit they are. Or how confident. I don’t like sports. Football bores me. Oh, I know tons about the sport—kind of impossible not to in my family—but I don’t want to pretend that I care when I’d rather talk about other things.
Dex’s eyes crinkle again, and he turns toward me, leaning an elbow on the table. “Doesn’t Momoa have a beard?”
I wave my hand. “Who has time to look at his beard when his muscles are on display?”
I most certainly do not look at Dex’s phenomenal arms.
“So your stance on beards is?” His gaze so strong I feel it in my toes.
My breathing picks up. “Don’t particularly like them.”
It’s the truth. And yet I can’t help but look at his. It’s dark, framing his mouth, which should be a turnoff for me. Only it draws all my attention there. To the shape of his mouth—the upper lip a gentle curve, the lower lip fuller, almost a pout. There’s something slightly illicit about the whole effect.
I clear my throat, glance up, and find him watching me through lowered lids. He doesn’t seem particularly put out by my frankness.
“What don’t you like about them?”
Is he serious?
He stares at me.
I guess he is.
Taking a quick sip of my drink, I search for an answer. “They’re just so…fuzzy. Prickly.”
He moves in, not crowding me, but putting himself at arms’ reach. He smells faintly of cloves and oranges. It must be his aftershave or cologne, but it works for me.
I’m distracted by it and almost jump when he speaks again. “Do you know this based on experience, or are you making an assumption?”
My gaze narrows. “Aren’t you the philosopher.”
“You didn’t answer the question.”
“Fine. Assumption.”
His lips quirk. “You should find out if your assumption is true before you condemn the beard.”
“Is this some sort of creepy way to get me to touch your beard?”
A challenge flashes in his eyes. “There are a few guys at the bar sporting beards. You could go ask them. But I figure since we know each other…”
“Not that well.”
“You’d rather ask a stranger?”
“You’re assuming I care enough to ask, Slick.”
His teeth shine white in the shadows of the club. “I know you’re curious. You’re fairly twitching with wanting to know.”
I flatten my hands against the table and glare. Is it just me, or is he closer? Close enough that I can see his eyes are hazel, lighter around his cornea with a starburst pattern. I wish I could see the colors, but he’s painted in shades of blue and gray right now.
And he’s watching me. Patient. Calculating. Tempting.
“It’s always the quiet ones,” I mutter before taking a breath. “Okay, I’ll pet your fuzzy face.”
“Hold up.” Without hesitation, he reaches for my drink and takes a sip. “Liquid courage.”
A strangled laugh leaves me. “Because I’m sooo scary.”
“You have no idea, Cherry.”
I think I growl at him. I definitely want to give his precious beard a good, hard tug. But he simply lifts his brows at me. “Get on with it, then.”
This cheeky bastard is totally playing me. And here I am falling into his trap. Because I cannot look away from his beard now. More specifically, his lips, which are parted just slightly. An invitation. A dare.
Shit. I’ve never been very good at ignoring a dare.
I hate that my hand trembles as I reach up to touch him. He stays perfectly still, his arm casually slung on the edge of the booth behind me, his body turned toward mine. But I don’t miss the way his breathing has kicked up just slightly.
I hesitate, shy almost. Hells bells, I’m only going to touch a bit of facial hair. Why does it feel like we’re two kids tucked in a dark corner, playing a game of “I’ll show you mine”?
Annoyed with myself, I close the distance between us.

... I think I'm gonna have fun reading this... :3

Nuts (Hudson Valley #1) by Alice Clayton

Nuts (Hudson Valley #1)
by Alice Clayton

Kindle Edition, 320 pages
Expected publication: October 20th 2015 by Gallery Books

After losing almost all of her clients in one fell swoop following an accident involving whipped cream, private chef to Hollywood’s elite Roxie Callahan gets a call from her flighty mother, saying she’s needed home in upstate New York to run the family diner. Once she's back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. Leo believes that everything worth doing is worth doing slowly…and how! But will Roxie stay upstate, or will the lure of West Coast redemption tempt her back to Tinseltown?

First of all…

Happy wedding for Mrs & Mr Alice Clayton... yay!

I'm very excited that finally can read this newest book, the first one of Hudson Valley new series, Nuts...

Yeah, the title a little bit... nuts... but the story... absolutely sweet... ;-)

It's about a professional private chef, who's been wanted to be away from home since school and now should coming back because her mom & aunty got auditioned for Amazing Race, so mean they have to travel around the world...

That's why Roxie needs to be around to take care their family dinner (?)

Unfortunately, at almost the same time, Roxie is suddenly has no job to do because the unsatisfied customers. Roxie who at first really determined that she will not stay longer than the summer, or the maximum time her mother will going away, becomes really confused and questioning her own decision to leave again...

And what the reason of her 'confusion' would be? It's none other than the handsome, the most eligible bachelor in the town. Although, because of her pass, Roxie is really don't want to get involve with someone because it will be messy, hurtful and emotional draining... It seems that she can't resist their attraction. Even as from the beginning, she said all of their "activities" only last for the summer, Roxie couldn't help of wanting more with Leo.

Even though, I found Roxie and Leo are cute being together. IMO, their chemistry is a little bit off for me. Maybe because Roxie from the beginning is limiting her feeling and never wanted to explore more.
And Leo, in my opinion, also a little bit distance. Really.

They also, except the little time together, seem very busy with their own business. Roxie with the dinner and cake orders, while Leo with his farm.

Maybe, it's also because Roxie's point of view, which's delivering the story. Just like I thought previously, she hasn't really explored her feeling toward Leo, hence, we also can't catch many of Leo's feeling to her (through her point of view), except of the obvious.

I love the ending and more on the epilogue. It's Leo's point of view, that's where I can get full picture of their future family together.

What I also love about the story, is about the dreams and the effort to live it. I love how Leo builds his farm and I love how Roxie does her favourite things all the time.

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars...

I've read most of Ms. Alice's books... I guess there're just 2 books that I haven't read... the last book from the Cocktails series and also the last book from the Redheads series... they're a bit pricey.. hahaha... just waiting for the bargain kindle, if available... :d

Actually, a number of Ms. Alice's books already got translated to Bahasa Indonesia... Haven't read any though, because... for romance books, they better served original... Considering that translated books, I guess Ms. Alice also already gain many fans here in Indonesia, so why don't you visit us? Have a romantic honey moon in Bali, perhaps? :D

Here’s what you, the brave reader, need to know. Fire Down Below has a sequel. I know; everyone’s super surprised that Amazon allowed me to keep the poop-your-pants book up all this time.

In Fire in the Hole, Dove’s sausage-loving neighbor has realized he’s wildly in love with her lurchingly awkward butt. Johnson is the pharmacist of her dreams until he tells her over Twitter—goddamnit—that he has plans with an ex-girlfriend. Duke scrapes Dove off her apartment floor and takes her to his cousin’s wedding. As Pissboy and Cross-eyed Knockers tie the knot, Duke could just kick himself in the balls when he sees Johnson and Beth at the same venue driving Dove insane with jealousy.

Will Dove give up everything, even her self-esteem, to get Johnson’s johnson between her legs? Or will the scent of spiced meat inspire Dove to rip off Duke’s sausage-and-egg underwear forever?

Yup. I can publish this. No law against it… yet.

~* MY REVIEW *~

I guess, sadly... there's nothing new in The Fire in the Hole (FitH) compared to the previous one  "Fire Down Below", except that we got everything on the new indescribable level. Though, I'm expecting more of it.

Screening all the disgusting part about poos & farts, we actually have a really nice love story between a nice guy (usually who's not really look nice) and an indecisive naive girl.

Dove just being naive, can't see herself for her self, while Duke by being himself, he shows Dove, who he really is and does everything he can to make her happy.

And for Johnson, it's not that he's a bad guy or something, he just at different level of feeling to Dove... if compared to Duke.

Dove, as an indecisive naive girl, she's just running back and fort between Johnson and Duke.

Although, I love our hero and heroine have a happy ending together, I guess I just don't really support indecisive person, and I wish Dove is more bold about her feeling and what she wants from the beginning.

Also, there's Flower, she just, I don't know, with the limited words to speak, I really can't tell what she's up to sometimes...

One thing that I don't really get about the story, is the side story of Shannon and Preston, what the hell it's all about?
Funny additional part or something?

I love the first story more, where we can have the Anastasias as the side story. They're more bizarre, but funnier and I missed them in the FitH, too little of them... I want more...

Anyway, I gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars for this...

Quinn has spent her whole life working in her dad's garage, leaving her more comfortable with a carburetor than a curling iron. Her world is turned upside down when her beloved garage is bought by none other than world famous, sexy as sin, custom car builder, Tazen Watts. He's the one man she can't stand...even though he makes her hotter than a high performance engine in top gear.

Tazen has no use for Quinn, at least not professionally, and he's making sure she knows it. But there's a spark between them that she's finding hard to ignore. She's determined to prove her talent is as impressive as her sassy mouth. When she finds out Tazen is hiding a secret that could bring down his career and everyone involved in it, she wonders: is falling for him is going to be work the risk?

~* MY REVIEW *~

For Quinn, all she knows that she's going to be a mechanic just like her father. Because that's what she does since she was a little girl until she's twenty five and very good at it. Although, now... all she got are her father's garage and her alcoholic father.

When Tazen Watts determined to buy the garage because it has the perfect location for his business expansion, Quinn would do anything to prevent it. But without her knowledge, her father sold the garage to him.

Tazen Watts is a world-famous custom car builder. He's a well-known for his television show "Hot Fury" and actually is Quinn's idol.

The two constantly fighting and bickering. Quinn refused to leave the garage and Tazen also refused to give her job as a mechanics and said she doesn't have the experience and skill as his other team member. Although, Quinn determined to show Tazen otherwise, they settled with her being a receptionist. But then, when Quinn decided to try getting job as a mechanics elsewhere, Tazen gave the job to her, but only to do light job or to fix a come back in for service.
And after a while, they finally couldn't hold it anymore, weeks of sexual tension, anger, passion and lust just explodes.

Well... then the story continued on they're being together. There're also story about Tazen's pass and also about Quinn's alcoholic father who's then gotten into a rehab.

And finally ending nicely when Tazen realised how good Quinn was with her job.

I gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars for it's okay.

I love Quinn's passion as a mechanic, I once considered a mechanical engineer as my major for study but then got accepted at another major and now I wonder, what would it be like to be a cool badass female mechanic? ;-)

Grace is a bounty hunter who wants to be taken seriously, but her boss refuses to believe that a woman can bring down a dangerous criminal. She finally gets a chance to prove herself when she's given the case of a lifetime: capture Raide Knox and bring him to justice.

Raide is a dangerous fugitive on the run...and the sexiest man Grace has ever met. Catching Raide won't be easy. He's not the kind of man to go down without a fight. Raide is more intense and frustrating than any man she's ever had to deal with, and the instantaneous attraction that sparks between them is undeniable. One thing is for sure...it's going to be a case they will never forget.

~* MY REVIEW *~

The main theme is about a female bounty hunter who fall in love with who she supposed to take in. It's very hard to say if the story is not sexist, while the heroine just doing what's everyone assuming including herself that she's using her sexuality to lure her target.

Gracie Lou has a dream to become a great bounty hunter, just like her father. (Maybe) unfortunately for her, because of her looks (as one of characteristics of being a female), it's very hard for her to convince her boss and colleagues that she can do her job as good as the others.
Her choice of career also has challenged from her mother and sisters, who are beauty queens and only care about the looks.

Until the opportunity came along, her boss offered her a really big case,  to bring in a guy who skipped bail, he's standing trail for assault with a deadly weapon and he's also the main suspect for murder. And the guy she should bring in is none the other than the guy she's met the other night, Raide Knox.

And since Raide Knox is a big guy, Kady, Grace's best friend, suggested that she should try to seduce him instead of the ordinary way. Then she started to stalking him... err I mean following him around.

After a while, she's getting to know him better and understand what situation he's in. She's really is playing with fire, even more when she's getting closer to him and involve in a relationship with him.

Well, in the end, everything is solved nicely.

I like the story... though I don't really have the connection with Raide... I guess he's really a troubled man.

And for Grace, I think... yeah... although I also believe that everyone has the right to do anything and should not be discriminated against anything either, especially by gender, but for me... to be a bounty hunter still is a dangerous job for a woman to do.

With her skill and knowledge, I guess there are others job that she can do better and safer.

Anyway, I love tough women... and in the end women always to be tougher beyond physical.

I gave the story 3 out of 5 stars.

He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

~* MY REVIEW *~

It's the second book of the Off-Campus series... I've read it for a while but too lazy to write the review... Bad me! XD

Grace Ivers is just an ordinary freshman, who met John Logan, a hockey player, in unexpected way... While Logan thought that he's in love with Hannah, his team mates' girlfriend... He's doing everything he can to "diverse" the unwanted feeling...

Though Grace first met Logan at a party, Logan didn't realise that until he got lost on the way to a party at a friend dorm and end up at Grace's room. They spent time together watching Die Hard Two and do stuff... haha... But then Logan just walked away...

Grace very happy with her encountered with Logan, though her friends, even her best friend Ramona, have difficulties to accept her story of she's getting involved with Logan, especially Piper Steven's who wanted Logan but never got him.

They're getting along nicely, but then Logan questioning his motive on wanting her... That he thought he just made Grace as a diversion of his real feeling towards Hannah, he's feeling guilty and then he refused her in a bad way...

And he's really regretting his action to Grace after have conversation with Hannah and came to a conclusion that what he wanted after all was a relationship with someone, the way Hannah and Garret have...

So, now he's determined to do anything to win her back... to get her on a date with him, and Grace gave him six tasks to complete before she agrees to a date.

Well, I think that's enough... I have spoiled much of everything already... :D

The story is very nice, I really enjoy reading it...

I love the relationship Grace has with her mother and father.
And I also love Logan's dedication to his family, to his alcoholic father and how's he supports his brother, even if that means to give up his dreams.

I gave the story bright 5 out of 5 stars...

Sophie Swenda, a refugee aid expert, is accustomed to saving lives on a grand scale. It becomes more than a job when the person she needs to save is the man she loves.

Michael Nariovsky-Trent, a Baltic-born American doctor, vanished months ago after joining the resistance in the Soviet Republic. Sophie believes he's trapped inside the fences and barbed wire of a sinister refugee camp, lost in a sea of freezing, starving prisoners of war.

Despite her long-ago failed romance with Michael, Sophie’s always believed their time would come – no matter how unlikely it seems to everyone around them. His blazing temper, her obstinacy, and their shared brilliance and competitiveness have made the road to love a rocky one. More than a decade after they separated, they’re too stubborn to forgive past mistakes … and still too in love to move on.

She embarks on a mission like no other before. Unless Sophie can find him, their long-delayed chance at love will be lost forever. With the world’s security forces deadlocked and the camp’s commander seeking vengeance, Sophie is on her own. She must bargain for the life of the man she loves – and everyone else in the camp – before the commander destroys them all.

~* MY REVIEW *~

The story is about Sophie Swenda (an American citizen) and Micheal Nariovsky-Trent, (an Orlisian with an American father, a dual citizenship), who met on a Global Youth Leadership, the world's most exclusive private education for future leaders.
They requited the 50 youngsters who have the most potential as future leaders. In the program, they travel the world for a year of hands-on learning.

Sophie Swenda is an American, a young volunteer for Refugee Crisis International, an non profit organisation, she co-founded to help refugee all over the world. When she was 17 years old, she met Michael Nariovsky-Trent,  an Orlisian-American. Shophie was very interested in everything about Orlisia, she even learnt the language. Orlisia is a small country, occupied by The Soviet Republic.

At that time, Sophie was in a relationship with somebody's else, while Michael distracted himself with the other member of the program. After years of keeping contact, they still wouldn't confessed of each other's feeling, until I guess they think they wasted so many times of their life...

When Michael decided that he should came back to Orlisia to help the resistants for the independence of Orlisia, Sophie couldn't do anything to stop him for leaving. Once she lost contact with him, she immediately started a rescue mission.

The story continued with the rescue mission, and then after a decade of relationship, Sophie and Michael, suddenly couldn't stop touching each other in a warzone environment, which I found very strange... And then, off course, made so many complications of what they've done.

I admire of how brave Sophie is, although a bit off with Michael who's being very emotional. I understand that there are people who naturally emotional, however in my opinion, incontrol emotion tends to make people seems to be ungrateful.

And I also don't really like the ending, although it's a happy ending, I get the feeling that the focus of the story is shifted... From a merely romance relationship between Sophie & Michael, with the background of warzone and the politics, to the Global Youth Leadership program and the relationship between the members?

I don't know, maybe the author wants to call out the readers' attention towards such programs or other social missions? But I just felt it's kind of messing the story... since it's not nicely placed.

I give it 2 out of 5 stars for I guess I don't really into it...

Pilot-for-hire Zoe Stone is happy to call Sunshine, Idaho, her home base. But her quiet life is thrown for a loop when her brother’s friend Parker comes to stay with her for a week. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife special agent is a handsome flirt with a gift for getting under her skin. And the situation only escalates when Parker hires her to fly him around the area while he collects evidence on a suspected smuggler.

I think this one is the best romance story I've read so far in 2015. I knew one of my friend is Ms. Jill Shalvis' fans when he showed us his collections of Ms. Shalvis' books and I wondered why he loves her so much. This is my second book and now I knew why...

Zoe Stone is in another period of her life that she wants more in her life. And the time is quite perfect, when she eventually has to love on her own after her siblings live on their own.
And she decided she has to start dating and open for a blind date.

A little unfortunate event that her date stood up on her or maybe more to fortunate event when she kissed her brother's friend for mistakenly guessed he was her date.

Parker James never lets himself in a relationship before. Having his life dedicated for his dangereous job and his little sister seems to be a good decision so far. Until, he's take by surprised when his new landlord kissed him as a welcome greeting. After that he's really hard to deny his feeling toward Zoe.

As also for Zoe, she really is a strong person. She knows her feeling for Parker but she is also understand very well, what his job means to him. That she couldn't make him stay for just for her or even for their mutual feeling.

This story gives so much feeling, worrying over Parker while he does his job, a little envy to Zoe for her determined self and moved on, touched of how Parker's little sister wanted to be with him and his love to her...

And all ended nicely, very nicely... so I give it 5 out of 5 nice stars...
