Wishful Wednesday #20

almost of the last week of this year, after reading Mud Vein, I determine to read all the books by Tarry Fisher, so my Wishful Wednesday will be her new books coming up maybe on January 2015... can't wait!! ;-)

Marrow by Tarryn Fisher

In the Bone there is a house.

In the house there is a girl.

In the girl there is a darkness.

Margo is not like other girls. She lives in a derelict neighborhood called the Bone, in a cursed house, with her cursed mother, who hasn’t spoken to her in over two years. She lives her days feeling invisible. It’s not until she develops a friendship with her wheelchair-bound neighbor, Judah Grant, that things begin to change. When neighborhood girl, seven-year-old Neveah Anthony, goes missing, Judah sets out to help Margo uncover what happened to her.

What Margo finds changes her, and with a new perspective on life, she’s determined to find evil and punish it–targeting rapists and child molesters, one by one.

But hunting evil is dangerous, and Margo risks losing everything, including her own soul.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Ugly Love
by Colleen Hoover

Paperback, 322 pages
Published August 5th 2014 by Atria Books

I guess it's not good for your health to read two sad books in a row... not that this book is completely sad or something... it even has a happy ending... aaarrggh... Thank God for that!
it just it tells about sad man... sad people makes me sad too... T_T

Tate Collins and Miles Archer have met in circumstances that Miles is not ready yet... not ready to forget, not ready to forgive himself for what he did or not did in the past...

but neither of them could do anything to their attraction... therefore...

Tate has given up her heart to be able to feel what it's like to be with him...
and Miles, even though it's very hard to him not to feel, not fall... he's falling for her... hard...

I don't know why, but the sadness in Miles lingers in me... it won't go away.. that's why I should write... to ease the feeling...
I know I cannot say anything about what Miles is feeling more or less, since I'm the one who experience it... but I feel him... I'm sorry for him... >.<

well done Ms. Hoover!!

it's 4 out of 5 stars from me... and now I want to read Maybe Someday, since my friends said it's nicer... ;-)

Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher

Mud Vein
by Tarryn Fisher

Paperback, 292 pages
Published March 8th 2014 by CreateSpace

after I read Tarryn Fisher (e)books, Love Me with Lies series... I fall in love with her... her stories are captivating, make me unreal... I don't know what to feel... or think... I just become not my self...

that's why I should read all of her books... and I've been waiting for this book too...

and... although... I guess I haven't expect anything... but the book was somehow... I don't know... part of me kind of sick about it... the other side of me want more of it...

it's depressing,
it's sad... very sad...
tell a lot about isolation, confusion, devastation...

I wish the ending more relieving... but it's not... although it's not that the ending is sad or happy neither... I want more on the ending... to stop the feeling that I've been sorry for her... for Senna... or Brenna, if want to call her that...
and for Isaac...

and I don't quite satisfied with the details of the captor... the zoo keeper... it's too much I guess... unrealistic...

I wish Senna more live... I wish for a better Isaac...

I wish I can like the book more... maybe it will if the ending is happier... I wish more... but it's just a hopeless feeling all around... >.<

it's 3.5 of out 5 stars from me...

and I'll be waiting for more books from Ms. Fisher... I'll be looking forward for Marrow and Never Never, her duet with Colleen Hoover... ;-)

[BLOG TOUR] The Librarian Principle by Helena Hunting

The Librarian Principle
by Helena Hunting

ARC, ebook, 256 pages
Expected publication: December 21st 2014 (first published December 20th 2014)

Annaliese Harper knows that one tiny mistake can jeopardize a career before it's even begun. Letting your boss find the extensive laptop is one. Sleeping with him in another. Liese manages to do both.

yeah... the description of the book was really compelling... I think the story was somehow nice... although, I guess there's no new things going on the book... unfortunately...

the whole story just reminded me a lot of other stories... for once... I missed and wanted to re-read The Plan by Qwen Salsbury on the secret relationship between the boss and his subordinate, or Gabriel's Inferno series by Sylvain Reynard... and even a little bit of FSoG by EL James for that kinky BDSM sex...

I understand the author wanted to give more by adding ex-boy friend drama, who's kinda need more help with psychologist... though not elaborated more after the police got involved...

I was pretty enjoy reading the ebook, an ARC from the publisher... I just... like I said previously... it reminded me a lot of other stories... while I have more expectation from the author... since I really love her Clipped Wings series...

if you're looking for a nice romantic story about on how to strive your relationship whatever the obstacles are... then you must read this one... especially if you haven't read the other books I've mentioned...

cheers! 3 out of 5 stars from me...

The Silkworm (Cormoran Strike #2) by Robert Galbraith

The Silkworm (Cormoran Strike #2)
by Robert Galbraith

Paperback, 1st, 455 pages
Published June 19th 2014 by Mulholland Books / Little, Brown and Company

aaaakkkk... sekali2 pengen nulis review santai nan penuh spoiler aaaahhh... :D
rasanya akhir2 ini terlalu serius kalo nulis review... padahal reviewnya juga cuma gitu2 aja... yeah, I know... I admit... :d

jadi sekarang mau nulis review yang banyak ngebahas ceritanya... jadi kalo belum baca buku ini dan pengen baca... gak usah baca review ini dulu yaaa... hus hus!! #kidding :D

means and opportunity...

2014 Reading Challenge - The Result

oh la la... this year would be my most competitive year for reading challenges... >.<
I have joined 10 reading challenges so far... but I guess I only succeed in a couple of them...

let's take a look...

1. 2014 TBRR Pile Reading Challenge - Hosted by Hobby Buku

the only book I managed to read from my pile is The Associate by John Grisham which is also as Readalong Mystery Book's Club

therefore considered as a failed challenge

2. 2014 Mystery Book's Club - Hosted by Book to Share

it's not really a challenge... as I mentioned above I read one John Grisham book for this and it's my only book for participating in the club... :d

3. Lucky No.14 Reading Challenge - Hosted by Book to Share

there're 14 categories of books, I only managed to read 5 of them... and only one book that I haven't review, and if time permit I might add one category more... hopefully...

[2] Cover Lust : The Echoes of Love by Hannah Fielding and The Dark Heroine: Dinner with a Vampire (The Dark Heroin #1) by Abigail Gibbs
[3] Blame it on Bloggers : The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick
[6] First Letter's Rule : Raging Star (Dust Lands Trilogy #3) by Moira Young
[7] Favourite Author : Cecelia Ahern - How to Fall in Love, different from what I intended previously
[12] Freebies Time : The Cuckoo's Calling - Debut Burung Kukuk (Cormoran Strike #1) by Roberth Galbraith

eerrr... I guess this challenge is also considered as a failure challenge...

4. Receh untuk Buku 2014

the idea is to collect small changes and then buy a book or books from them... I didn't collected any... so I withdraw my self from the challenge...

5. Books in English 2014 Reading Challenge - Hosted by p3n1 @ Ketimbun Buku

I have many books in English that I read this year... so I will get a quite good result for this challenge, I'll take a look the rules and will be back with the result later on...

6. Young Adult Reading Challenge 2014 - Hosted by Tea Time and Books

in the previous year, I read severals YA books, but this year I kinda busy with the more adult books... therefore I won't bother, this is also a failure challenge for me...

7. Dinoy's Books Review 2014 - Hosted by Dinoy's Books Review

the problem is... I don't really have time to update my review with Dinoy's... so... this again a failed challenge XD

8. New Authors Reading Challenge 2014 - Hosted by Ren's Little Corner

aaarrgghh... finally the one challenge that I'm doing good... this is my second year of the challenge... and this year... I managed to join the two months update post, even have won a give away once...

I will make the wrap up post soon...

I guess I should thank Ren for being a very good host for the challenge... she always reminded us, to came along with give away by submitting the update post :3
one thing for sure I love about the challenge that I don't have to write a review on my blog, I can submit my Goodreads review... :D #dasarpemalas
and this challenge really works well with my activity to review new books which I get the ARC from the publisher...

9. BBI Review Challenge 2014 - Hosted by BBI

I am a Lexile Reader, managed to read and review 21-45 books... it's just around 20 something...

10. 2014 Reading Challenge - Hosted by Goodreads

I challenged my self with higher target this year, last year I succeed with my 50 books... but I guess this year I will fail my 75 books target, up to date, I'm already 12 books behind schedule... :'(

next year I will reduce my books number target definitely...

so that's it... next year, I'll look forward to join my success challenge reading... and keep up my cooperation with publisher to promote the new published books... it's really an enjoyable mutual relationship which I have built this year... and really look forward to read new books from my favourite authors or new authors whom hopefully will be my favourites... :D

Ripped (Real, #5) by Katy Evans

Ripped (Real, #5)
by Katy Evans

ARC, ebook, 288 pages
Published December 9th 2014 by Gallery Books

I haven't read the whole series, this is my first book of the series... I got a lot acquaintance of the series while I browsed book recommendation and really wanted to read the books... then opportunity came, I got the ARC of this book... yay!

Pandora Stone thought that trowing tomatoes and eggs at his rocker ex boy friend, MacKenna Jones, on his concert, could gave her satisfaction and got even with his betrayal...

but she wouldn't get away with it easily... she had to make deal with the band, Crack Bikini, that she would came along on their tour, staring in their video filming and make appereance in the grand concert performance in Madison Square Garden

though, she said she accepted the proposition because of the money offering, she couldn't really tell the main reason, was it because of the money or MacKenna himself...

the attraction was obvious, neither could denied... while they have different reasons why they wanted to get involve again... they couldn't really got away from each other...

what I like about the story was of how each main characters had their own history... their own regrets, reasons of why they did the things they had to do back then... and their hopes of the future...

when they were finally aware of what happened... they knew that they could make the future together if they fight for it...

I really enjoy reading the story... eventhough, I haven't read the previous books in the series, this book has its own independent story... so it's not problem at all...

if you are fans of rockstars then you definitely have to read this book... to experience the world of rockstars on their tour journey...

3 out of 5 stars from me...

and if you want to know what other bloggers have to say about the book... look here...

The fifth story in the new adult series that began with the New York Times bestseller REAL.
RIPPEDcover
New Adult Contemporary
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Release: December 9, 2014
Every woman wants me--except the one I sing for.
Seattle shakes with anticipation: they call it the concert of the year. They say girls are getting pregnant just thinking about my band being in town.
But when you love a girl, you don't leave her with nothing but a ring and a promise. Any man with half a brain should know.
So what did I expect my girl would do when she saw me again?
Well, for starters, she loathes our music. Particularly the song I wrote about her.
When I sing it, the stadium is in an uproar. Thousands of fans scream my name like I'm a god--but yeah, not her. Crystal clear: the girl's not happy to see me.
Black hair, black boots, a bad attitude, that's her -- Pandora Stone is a freaking man-eater and she's out for my blood.
That's alright.
Let her come at me. Because I'm out for her heart and, this time, there's no way she can stop me.

Mai Tai'd Up (The Cocktail Series Book 4)
by Alice Clayton

ARC, ebook, 320 pages
Published December 2nd 2014 by Gallery Books

You can't always wait until everything's perfect - sometimes it happens when it's not supposed to. You rool with it, right?

when Chloe Patterson decided that marrying Charles Preston Sappington is not for her... she run away from her wedding on her wedding day...

she wanted more of her life, not just being a wife of a rich man.. being named as Miss Golden State, Chloe is heavily involved in charity work, especially since she always loved animals, she work with therapy dogs, she wanted to do more with this work...

therefore, after the fiasco of her wedding day, she thought about establishing a shelter for rescued and abandoned pit bulls. that's exactly what she did when she came to Monterey, to his father's family ranch.

in Monterey, she met with a handsome veterinarian, Lucas Campbell... whom unfortunate coincidently has the same story as Chloe, but with different angle of perspective...

Lucas just being left by the altar on their wedding day by his fiancée, who was also a beauty queen, former Little Miss Stars and Stripes
a few mentioned about rebounding off each other, made Chloe hesitated to tell Lucas about the truth and all, also Chloe wanted more from Lucas than just being a rebound...

but they couldn't really deny the attraction between them... so what should Chloe do? one thing for sure... Lucas should know her story from her, directly, not from others, and definitely not from the gossip news... ooh fudge! :D

what I like about the story, actually the dogs... I love dogs, and I love what Chloe do for them...
that like people, we should prejudice animals by their looks and by how of human think of them... animals don't make up their impression... it's human who made them...

4 out of 5 stars from me... for those loving Pit bulls...

Screwdriver (The Cocktail Series Book 3) by Alice Clayton

Screwdriver (The Cocktail Series Book 3)
by Alice Clayton

Kindle Edition, 320 pages
Published September 2nd 2014 by Gallery Books

It doesn't always have to be so hard. Sometimes falling in love just means turning around and seeing what's right in front of you.

it's the third book of the cocktail series, the first one is Wallbanger... followed by Rusty Nailed...

for me Rusty Nailed kind of failed... not really... I just didn't really like it...

when Screwdriver was published I'm not really excited and I also kind of missed the book tour event... but still part of me wanted to read the book...

then Mai Tai'd Up was going to be released... and I joined the book tour and got the ARC... and there's a part of the story that was telling about the characters of Screwdriver...

finished reading Mai Tai'd Up, without hesitation I just got my self the Screwdriver on my Kindle...

the story was about Vivian Franklin, an old friend of Simon (Wallbanger & Rusty Nailed) from high school... her life was going to change after a late phone called from her aunt's lawyer, who's telling her, she just inherited a house and ranch...

Vivian Franklin, who is the youngest of 5 older brothers, even though with though image to other people, with piercings and neck tattoo... she's a helpless romantic girl, who wished she is one of the heroine in her books...

she dreamed of pirate, cowboy or fireman... she always thought that her type is the rough, tough looking, bad boy... while refused to be with everyone's type like good provider, steady, accomplished, smart... the good boy...

once she heard the news that she's inherited the big house and a ranch in Mendocino, California, she felt that it's her destiny to meet his prince of her life... that she's about to be starring in her very own romance novel...

however, what about if life is give you a lemon?

there's cowboy alright... but there's also a handsome librarian... Clark Barrow, brown hair, brown eyes behind dusty-looking eyeglasses, white button-down, tweet jacket with elbow patches... he's definitely out of her type... apparently...

well, you need to find out yourself about how in the end, finally they're end up together... however, for me... I guess, I need to see more chemistry between Vivian and Clark, especially from Vivian side... what's that actually brought Vivian came to a realization that it's Clark that she wanted after all this time... not that Hunk "Cowboy" Hank... I want more of that...

but I just love the hilarious way of Vivian, who always drifted to her dream world...

Aw, yeah... :D

3 out of 5 stars from me...

The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series by Debra Anastasia

actually I always wanted to read Poughkeepsie, and by the cover looks, though I've read the excerpt on Goodreads, I always though that story was about a city with some kind of vampire empire something… I didn't knew why and what was bringing me to that thought…

and when my most favourite publisher in the world, Ms. Enn Bocci, offering me via her mailing list, to sign up for book tour of Saving Poughkeepsie, I'm very excited, especially that she offered if any of us, haven't read the first 2 books, she'll be glad to send us the ebooks…

so, then I got the first 2 ebooks…

the first book on the series, Poughkeepsie is generally nice story, the story opened with Livia McHugh and Blake Hartt's story… and we'll get to know about Cole Bridge and Kyle McHugh (Livia' sister)'s story as well… and… also about Beckett Taylor and Eve Hartt…

after the first book, I sensed that Beckett and Eve's story was more bold than the others… it's kinda unbalance since the story started with Livia and Blake, although also ended with Livia and Blake were getting married, Beckett and Eve should have more to tell…

Cole and Kyle, got a nice portion in between…

after read the other 2 books, then we'll get to know… yeah… main characters in the story were actually Beckett and Eve…

in short, Beckett is a criminal, made by the situation, met with his brothers, Cole and Blake, in a foster home, and determined to get a better living for his brothers after their time to live in the foster home is up…

so, Beckett did what he have to do… he grew up to be the most respected criminal in Poughkeepsie… while Cole was going to be a pastor and Blake was struggling with his mental limitation to see the ray of sunlight…

and they met with the ladies… Blake met Livia, Cole met Kyle, and Eve… she has her own agenda with Beckett…

after a rather death and life situation, Beckett should got away from Poughkeepsie… leaving Eve behind until undetermined time…

Return to the Poughkeepsie is the second book of the series, when Mary Ellen Vitullo, a daughter of Mafia gangsters, wanted a revenge to her ex boyfriend, Sevan Harmon, she messed in Poughkeepsie…

since her father was hurt, I didn't knew on what reason, Eve went undercover and got to get inside of Mary Ellen's organisation…

she got to know with Ryan Morales, a police officer, who works for the case…

after Livia's got kidnaped by the Vitullo's, Beckett was coming back to Poughkeepsie and tried to handle the situation…
however, Eve killed Mary Ellen and the story rolled…

Rodolfo Vitullo, Mary Elle's father, got Eve and Beckett released her with condition that he works for Rodolfo…

and then we came to the last book of the series, Saving Poughkeepsie

with the truce agreement between Beckett and Rodolfo, each of them, has their own plan…

Rodolfo thought that he should have one or more heirs… since Mary Ellen was killed and he didn't saw a very bright future of his kingdom with Primo, his son, he's thinking of trying to have Eve as the mother of his heirs…

while Beckett… after trying to be a good person for Eve, he has a grand plan to build a better community in Poughkeepsie…

when Beckett was out of town, Rodolfo's mens tried to kidnap Eve, but failed… however Nicholas, Rodolfo's assistant, has an information about Eve's medical background, and they came up with a different approach to the plan…

in the end… the bad people were all dead…

everyone then has their own happy endings…

overall… mind me if I messed with the story telling… I love the series… I really love it… I hope I will meet some Beckett more please… :3

though, there are details that sometimes, dragging the story quite out of it's line…

the story was about family, and building one…
that even though… there are circumstances that made us what we are at some point, we have to have hope… that the sky is our limit… and we have to have faith and belief to the people we love… we have to give our self chance to be better…

Update:
Just wanna share my rating of these books ;-)
- Poughkeepsie : 3 out of 5 stars
- Return to Poughkeesie : 4 out of 5 stars
- Saving Poughkeepsie : 5 out of 5 stars
